Rasa News Agency reports – Hujjat al-Islam Sayyed Mohammad Sa’idi, the custodian of the Holy Shrine of Lady Fatimah al-Ma’soumah in Qom, spoke about the exegesis of Hadith al-Hidaya in his first sermon in a series that he will deliver during the holy month of Ramadhan.

His Eminence said that the tradition “Hadith al-Hidaya” is cited in the book “Muwa’idh al-Adabiyah,” which was written by Ayatollah Meshkini and was explained by Ayatollah Mianji. He explained that the subject of Hadith al-Hidaya is in regards to providing gifts for the journey to the hereafter and the Day of Judgement: “Every man will make the journey to the Day of Judgement. This journey began with death; the time when his soul was separated from his body. This journey will end when he will enter heaven alongside the believers; or if he was evil, he will enter into the hellfire.”

In this tradition, we learn what actions need to be accomplished and which gifts need to be sent to the hereafter so that we will be successful on our journey toward the Day of Judgement. This tradition describes ten gifts that we can send to the hereafter, which includes acknowledging the rights of God, the Prophet, and the Archangels Gabriel [the angel of revelation] and Azrael [the angel of death]. The Prophet Muhammad has said that one of the gifts that we can send to the Archangel Azrael is to satisfy the right-holders. Gaining the satisfaction of the right-holders makes death easy.

Hujjat al-Islam Sa’idi explained that in the fourth Imam’s, Ali as-Sajjad’s book “Treatise On Rights,” he lists 51 rights. The first rights are the rights of God against oneself and the last is acknowledging the rights of non-Muslims under the protection of Islam (dhimmis). The Ahlul-Bayt have emphasized the importance of observing the rights of the dhimmis. This will guarantee the believers’ entrance into heaven.

His Eminence explained that God, the Prophet Muhammad, parents, wife/husband, neighbours also have rights which must be acknowledged: “Mankind must work for the hereafter just as they do for worldly affairs. They must not forget to observe the rights of others as we will be questioned for taking away the rights of others.”

Man also has rights upon his self and he must protect his self. Even his limbs and organs have rights and man must give them their due rights. Women’s rights include guarding their chastity and their hijab, as well as guarding their limbs and organs. For both men and women, obeying these rights can be accomplished by performing their religious duties and avoiding that which is religiously forbidden.

Hujjat al-Islam Sa’idi explained that Ramadhan is a joyous festival. Fasting is one of the blessings which God has bestowed upon us during this holy month as it teaches man that he must not forget the poor who may not have much, if anything, to eat.

“Fortunately, our people are safe but the oppressed people of Iraq, Syria, Bahrain, Afghanistan, Myanmar, Palestine and Bahrain are under oppression and arrogance. For example, hundreds of innocent people in Palestine were captured by the Zionist forces and a large number of the weak were injured or martyred. We must pray for Muslims and must not hesitate to help them,” he emphasized.
