Rasa News Agency Reports - “The country and the high-ranking officials of Oman, particularly Sultan Qaboos and Foreign Minister Youssef bin Alawi have played an outstanding role in helping resolve regional and international issues and we value this precious role,” Zarif said on Tuesday.
He made the remarks in a meeting with Oman’s new Ambassador to Tehran Saud bin Ahmed bin Khalid Al Barwani, who submitted his credentials to the Iranian foreign minister.
Zarif pointed to the various grounds for the expansion of the relations between Tehran and Muscat and hoped for the further enhancement of all-out ties.
The Iranian foreign minister further said that Sultan Qaboos’s August visit to Iran and the mutual respect between the two countries’ senior officials indicate the firm determination of both sides to promote bilateral ties.
Al Barwani, for his part, expressed hope for the promotion of mutual ties, especially in economic and trade fields.
Iran and Oman, which share control of the strategic Strait of Hormuz in the Persian Gulf, maintain cordial relations.
On May 28, Iran and Oman commemorated the 40th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral relations during a ceremony at the Iranian Foreign Ministry in Tehran.
