RNA - “The communication and information ministers of Islamic countries should seize this opportunity to create a global media,” Ayatollah Ali-Asghar Dastghayb, a member of the Assembly Experts, stated in reference to an upcoming summit meeting entitled “The Islamic Conference of Information Ministers” which will be held on December 3-4 in Tehran.
According to Ayatollah Dastghayb, this initiative will benefit both Iran and the other Islamic states.
Ayatollah Asadollah Imani, another a member of the Assembly of Experts, believes that the Islamic community must work together to create a medium that transmits the voice of Muslims in the world, and stressed that Western news agencies are unreliable.
“The Western media works hard to safeguard the interests of the western governments, but, we should present a different definition in line with the policies and interests of the Muslim World,” he said.
“The Muslim world should establish a unique global news agency for itself and prepare the ground for the purpose,” the Iranian cleric added.
“If the Islamic countries had the media power to influence international public opinion, the United States and Europe would not be able to influence the Muslim world with their slander,” Ayatollah Imani argued.
The official expressed his hope that the “The Islamic Conference of Information Ministers” will be a successful attempt aimed at forming a powerful means of Islamic communication.
This conference comes at a time when the Islamic community, in particular the Middle East, suffers from Takfiri terrorism, including groups like ISIL, who enjoy the sponsorship of Western countries.
The ISIL, with thousands of European and American members in their ranks, controls several areas of northern Syria. Since June, they have infiltrated Iraqi territory and have taken over some areas, but are weakening due to the Islamic resistance and the efforts of the people of Iraq.
This Takfiri group has committed unspeakable crimes against Kurds, Sunnis, Shi’ites and Christians in Iraq and Syria. According to many intelligence reports and secret documents, ISIL has been created through extensive military and financial assistance from some Western countries and their regional allies.
