RNA – Mr. Qaysar al-Shar’a, the director of the offices of the religious authorities in Iraq, said that Ayatollah al-Muhammad Ya’qoubi’s offices in various governorates of the country had spent more than a billion dinars ($840,689 US) since the outbreak of COVID-19 (Coronavirus) to fight the virus.
Mr. al-Shar’a continued, “This expense has been spent on supporting the Iraqi medical staff and providing the needs of the patients and families who have been facing financial problems since the outbreak of the Coronavirus due to the cessation of their income and closure of their businesses.”
According to the report, the provision of a basket of foodstuffs, medical supplies and support for volunteers fighting against the Coronavirus are among the measures taken by Ayatollah al-Ya’qoubi’s offices.
According to the latest report from the Iraqi Ministry of Health, the total number of people infected with the disease in this country has reached 2,431 people.
About 102 people have lost their lives to the Coronavirus and 1,571 have recovered.
