RNA – A group of young people from Iraq’s Baghdad and Babil governorates met with Ayatollah Muhammad al-Yaqoubi, a senior Iraqi scholar.

During the meeting, the Iraqi cleric emphasized the need to maintain a peaceful approach to the demonstrations aimed at the realization of rights and anti-oppression and corruption and said, “Foreign mercenaries seek to abuse the demonstrations and therefore, we need to protect our vigilance and insight so that we don’t witness deviation.”

Ayatollah al-Yaqoubi added, “The elite youth must act upon their national duties towards the country and prevent it from being deviated by attending the demonstrations and taking serious care in awakening and increasing the insight of the people.”

His Eminence emphasized the use of the recommendations of the religious authorities and the virtuous of the Islamic Seminaries in order to protect the right path of the demonstrations to achieve the noble goals and said, “Unfortunately, we see some falsehoods against religion, the great religious authorities and the Islamic Seminaries that these issues aren’t for the good of the people. The seminaries must make people aware of these actions and support the disadvantaged and vulnerable classes of society through charitable organizations.”

He continued, “The Islamic Seminaries have always been supporters of the interests of the people and their partners in various problems and crises throughout history and in this regard, many scholars and virtuous people have been martyred in the fight against oppressive and terrorist regimes.”
