RNA – Ayatollah Sayyed Mohammad Hoseyni-Shahroudi, the son of Grand Ayatollah Sayyed Mahmoud Shahroudi, passed away at the age 94 in Tehran, Iran.
Ayatollah Shahroudi, a prominent and distinguished scholar in the Islamic Seminary of Qom, was born in the holy Iraqi city of Najaf al-Ashraf in 1925.
His Eminence was the writer of “Manasik al-Hajj” (Hajj Rituals) and “Durus fi al-Ahkam al-Nisa” (Lessons on Women’s Rules).
Ayatollah Shahroudi learned the preliminary seminary studies from his father and the late Shaykh Ali al-Shahrbabaki. He also studied some of his preliminary lessons under the late Shaykh Shams al-Zanjani. He learned seminary books such as “al-Rasail” and “al-Makasib” from his father, and the book “al-Kifayah” (on Usul al-Fiqh) from the late Grand Ayatollah Mirza Hashem Amoli and the late Ayatollah Abdul-Husayn Rashti.
In 1941, at the age of sixteen, he began attending Dars al-Kharij (advanced level seminary studies). In those studies he benefited from Ayatollah Sayyed Mahmoud Shahroudi and his father. Since 1963, he has been delivering lectures in the Islamic Seminary of Qom.
