RNA – A group of poets, eulogists and organizers of Husayni mawkibs (mourning groups) in the holy city of Najaf, Iraq met with Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Muhammad-Sa’id al-Hakim, one of the senior scholars of that city.
During the meeting, His Eminence said, “The statements made from the pulpits [at mourning ceremonies for the Ahl al-Bayt] must be true and pure manifestations of the expression of wilayah (guardianship), the love of the Ahl al-Bayt, as well as fulfil their rights and strengthen the Shi’ah religion.”
Ayatollah al-Hakim added that marginal issues must be kept away from mourning ceremonies and religious occasions, since contemporary historical events have shown that such issues have caused disagreement among the followers of the Ahlul-Bayt.
Referring to the hadiths about the revival of religious occasions, especially the tragedy of Karbala, His Eminence said, “The Infallible Imams strongly emphasized upon protecting religious rituals and their purity and not removing religious criteria from them and stressed upon the importance of mourning and crying during the mourning ceremonies.”
He called upon the poets, eulogists and organizers of the Husayni mawkibs to demonstrate good manners and to carry out their commitments to religious and moral affairs in service to the cause of the “Master of the Martyrs,” Imam al-Husayn and stated, “We must protect the prestige and sanctity of religious rites and avoid the performance of sins.”
In conclusion, Ayatollah al-Hakim prayed to God to accept their deeds and for their success in regard to their service to religious rituals.
The eulogists and poets present also participated in this meeting and recited poems and eulogies in praise of the Ahl al-Bayt in which they expressed their deep attachment to the Blessed and Infallible Family of the Prophet Muhammad and their desires to walk on their path and sacrifice themselves on this path.
It’s worth mentioning that Ayatollah al-Hakim will meet with Iraqi and foreign political and social groups throughout the upcoming week and provide guidance on relevant issues for the audience.
