RNA – Speaking at a conference entitled “The Role of Political Parties and Activists in Reducing Religious Disputes and Supporting the Palestinian Cause” held at Azadi Hotel in Tehran, Hujjat al-Islam Sayyed Reza Taghavi, the head of the World Union of Proximity Among Religions said, “In culture and context, the religion of Islam is composed of groups and parties that are popular and accepted.”
The Iranian cleric added, “Islamic parties and organizations can act according to the divine orders and hold on to the rope of God and the goal of forming Islamic groups and parties is to achieve this desirable divine purpose.”
He stated that explained that the Quranic commandment of ‘enjoining the good and forbidding the wrong’ is one of the divine obligations and all Muslims must act in accordance with this divine duty and added, “The party in Islamic thought is the prelude to acting upon such an obligation.”
Emphasizing that parties must prevent the deviation of Islamic society, Hujjat al-Islam Taghavi said, “Parties can be examples of piety and goodness if they acted on the basis of religious principles.”
His Eminence continued, “The most important features of Islamic parties and organizations are pleasantness and sincerity, which are created due to shared beliefs among members.”
He emphasized that Islamic parties must seek to establish a rule of justice and equality and said, “Parties must help with increasing enlightenment of the Islamic awakening and inform others so that they can help the oppressed people.”
Hujjat al-Islam Taghavi stressed that Islamic parties and organizations must have faith in the people and stated, “Political parties and political activists must not make excuses for their lack of action but rather they must rise to the forefront of Islamic ideals with all their power and support the oppressed people of Palestine, Iraq, Yemen and Afghanistan.”
This week marks “Islamic Unity Week,” was established by the late founder of Iran’s Islamic Revolution, Imam Khomeyni, after the victory of the Iranian Revolution during the five days between the differing dates among Sunni and Shi’ah Muslims marking the Prophet Muhammad’s birth anniversary.
The 32nd International Islamic Unity Conference has began in the Iranian capital under the title: “Jerusalem al-Quds: Axis of Unity in the Ummah."
The event is held annually on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad in a bid to lay the ground for stronger solidarity among Muslims of various denominations and provide appropriate solutions to their problems.
