Grand Mufti of Lebanon:
Rasa – Shaykh Abdul-Latif Daryan declared that the dignity of the Islamic ummah rests on the liberation of Jerusalem al-Quds, and noted that the Islamic and Christian worlds will never recognize the false regime of Israel.
RNA – Speaking at the Christian-Islamic Summit held in Bkirki, the see of the Maronite Catholic Patriarchate in Lebanon, Shaykh Abdul-Latif Daryan, the Grand Mufti of Lebanon, said that the decision of the President of the United States, Donald Trump, to transfer the embassy of the United States in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem al-Quds was a “decisive offense to all divine religions.”
The Sunni cleric emphasized that Trump’s decision would be an insult the will of Muslims and Arab Christians and would violate the beliefs and teachings all the divine religions.
Referring to the rights of the Palestinian people in regard to the recovery of the land of their forefathers, Shaykh Daryan added, “At this religious summit, we do not only speak of this position and the views of the religious groups, but we speak of the heart and conscience of all the people of Lebanon.”
His Eminence noted that the decisions, strategies and statements which were issued as the result of this summit were a cry for the Arab world to assess the conditions and return to their fundamental and pivotal issue, the Palestinian issue.
He said that the Islamic ummah does not enjoy any dignity and munificence with the occupation of Palestine and added, “As long as the noble city of Jerusalem al-Quds is being insulted by the Zionist regime and the president of the United States, the Arab and Islamic nations will not experience any kind of dignity and munificence.”
Shaykh Daryan explained, “Jerusalem al-Quds is not only an issue for Christians or Muslims, but for all Arab, Islamic and Christian countries in the region. Until the complete liberation of Palestine is achieved, we will stand alongside the oppressed Palestinian people.”
In conclusion, the Grand Mufti of Lebanon stated, “The usurping Zionists know that we do not accept the Judaization of Jerusalem al-Quds. Just as in the past, we do not recognize the false regime known by the name of Israel.”
On December 6th, Trump announced his decision to recognize Jerusalem al-Quds as Israel’s capital and relocate the US embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem al-Quds.
