RNA – In an interview with Rasa News Agency, Hujjat al-Islam Hasan al-Masri, the vice chairman of the political office of Lebanon’s Amal Movement, referred to the Husayni movement and said, “Among some, there disagreements over whether the uprising of Imam al-Husayn is a transient revolution or an intellectual movement and it seems that the uprising of Imam al-Husayn has been a continuous intellectual movement throughout history. This is the same theme which distinguishes Imam al-Husayn’s revolution or movement from other movements in the world because the Husayni movement was in the interest of humankind and in service to humanity.”
The Lebanese Shi’ah cleric added, “By sacrificing his own life and the lives of his son, family, companions and followers, Imam al-Husayn’s goal to protect human dignity, honour and virtue and in this regard, God said, ‘Certainly We have honoured the Children of Adam [17:70].’ Therefore, these other revolutions and movements don’t even contain the most basic teachings of the Husayni movement. Imam al-Husayn was a social reformer and stated, ‘I have risen up solely to seek the reform of the ummah of my grandfather.’ Therefore, the survival of the movement of Imam al-Husayn is based on the fact that the divine human sacrifice has begun in the way of God.”
Referring to the sympathy and the support of the social elites for the Husayn movement, Hujjat al-Islam al-Masri noted, “The academics, social elites, civilized people and those who are aware of the intellectual movements have belief. Imam al-Husayn doesn’t just belong to Muslims or believers in God and the Imams but Imam al-Husayn is the Imam of all human beings, including the non-believers, the corrupt as well as the believers and Muslims. He is the Imam of the oppressed and weak throughout the world. Although he wasn’t Muslim, Mahatma Gandhi, the great leader of India, said, ‘I learned from Husayn how to be wronged and be victorious, I learnt from Husayn how to attain victory while being oppressed’ and this is the greatest reason for the universality of Imam al-Husayn’s school.”
The senior member of the Amal Movement continued, “The epic of Imam al-Husayn is connected to life, death, and human societies in the East and the West. We must remove the Husayni movement from the yoke of ideologies which want to marginalize and restrict the Husayni epic. Some attempt to propagate their poisonous thoughts that the immense movement of Imam al-Husayn came about with worldly goals and personal interests. As Ayatollah al-Sistani has said, we must take the movement of Imam al-Husayn’s from the tongue and reach the depths of the great Husayni movement.”
He explained that the Husayni movement is a human movement towards perfection and will never be silenced and said, “Imam al-Husayn had three enemies. The first are those who martyred him. The second, are the scholars of religion who stated things like ‘Yazid was the religiously legitimate ruler and Husayn rebelled against the ruler and was thus killed in accordance with the teachings of grandfather’ and justify the crimes committed by Yazid and have legitimized this massive crime. This group, despite the Yazid’s disbelief, have justified his behaviour, and the danger of this group is much higher than the first one. But in our time, we are the third group who have limited this huge movement to things that have nothing to do with the reality of the uprising of Imam al-Husayn and this group is much more dangerous than the other two groups.”
In another part of his speech, Hujjat al-Islam al-Masri emphasized, “The line of goodness that continued from Imam al-Husayn towards God Almighty has always rose up in struggle against the line of Yazid which leads to Satan and overcoming and dominating over it is also with the Resistance Axis. If Yazid and the followers of Yazid can distort the path of resistance, Imam al-Husayn prevented the deviation of resistance from his original path with his own blood and with the blood of his companions and his followers.”
Expressing the great capacity of the Husayni movement to bring awareness to the Islamic ummah, he said, “Speakers and lecturers must introduce the people to the issue of Ashura and the movement of Imam al-Husayn on various religious and religious occasions in such a manner that no insult and failure is committed against the Ahlul-Bayt. With the huge capacities of the Husayni movement, people should be driven by religious and religious emotions, rather than making statements which are a clear insult to Imam al-Husayn.”
Hujjat al-Islam al-Masri said, “All Islamic religions and denominations, including Shi’ahs and Sunnis, should be proud of the holding of mourning ceremonies for Imam al-Husayn. Sunnis should follow Zuhayr ibn Qayn, who was Sunni, but joined the caravan of Imam al-Husayn and was martyred. Christians should also take Abu Wahab al-Kalbi and Jawn ibn Huwai as their role models as they were martyred in the footsteps of Imam al-Husayn. Everyone should commemorate the martyrdom of Imam al-Husayn take themselves aboard the ‘Ship of Salvation’ of Imam al-Husayn.”
