RNA – Grand Ayatollah Lotfollah Safi-Golpaygani, a Shi’ah source of emulation in Iran, thanked Ilhan Omar, a Muslim-American politician, who swore into the House of Representatives  on a huge copy of the Quran.


Ilhan Omar (born in 1982) is a Somali American politician from Minnesota. She is the Director of Policy and Initiatives of the Women Organizing Women Network. In 2016, she was elected a Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party legislator in the Minnesota House of Representatives.


The text of Grand Ayatollah Safi’s message to Omar is as follows:

Ms. Ilhan Omar, Minnesota State Representative,
 
Grand Ayatollah Lotfollah Safi-Golpaygani, a Shi’ah source of emulation in Iran, hereby congratulates you on being elected as the state representative of Minnesota.


The cleric further thanks you for swearing on Holy Quran in your inauguration to the Minnesota House of Representatives.

 
The senior cleric added, “Swearing into the House of Representatives on the Holy Quran proves your great wisdom as well as your high respect for this divine book and its heavenly verses.  It is an honor for the Muslim community to inform the world about the fact that through adherence to the invaluable Quranic teachings, mankind is able to reach true salvation and peace. We can realize the idea of a world free of violation, oppression and injustice by following Quranic verses. There is hope that the hearts of enthusiasts of the Quran are enlightened by the guiding light of the Quran and all mankind reach the utmost level of happiness and felicity in life.
