RNA – While visiting a hospital in the Iraqi holy city of Karbala, Hujjat al-Islam Abdul-Mahdi al-Karbala’i, the representative of Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Ali al-Sistani and the religious guardian of the Holy Shrine of Imam al-Husayn, noted, “The efforts made by the medical staff and nurses in this difficult and dangerous situation demonstrate the great struggles that, like the efforts of the warriors on the fronts against Daesh, are with other enemies because this vicious virus is actually the enemy of the people’s lives and health.”
He added, “God Almighty doesn’t forget the rewards and efforts of the healthcare and medical staff who serve the patients day and night and grants them a great reward.”
It is worth noting that according to a recent inquiry from Ayatollah al-Sistani about the duties of the medical staff regarding the Coronavirus, His Eminence responded that treating patients is wajib al-kifa’i (collective obligation) for all those who are able to do so but for the government it is a necessary issue and it must provide all the necessary facilities.
As of May 19th, Iraq has had 3,554 cases of Coronavirus, 127 deaths and 2,310 recoveries.
