RNA – In an exclusive interview with Rasa News Agency, Ayatollah Sayyed Mostafa Mousavi-Esfahani, the representative of the people of Hamadan in the Assembly of Experts, stated, “After the first forty years of the Islamic Revolution, the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution [Ayatollah Khamenei] outlined the second forty year plan of which the main subject matter which is emphasized is that we must closely examine the strengths and weaknesses of the first forty years.”
His Eminence added, “This is a good opportunity, especially for the younger generation, clergy, academics and revolutionary classes to examine the strengths and weaknesses of the first forty years of the Islamic Revolution to achieve the goals for which the Islamic Revolution was established.”
Ayatollah Mousavi-Esfahani stated, “We need to look at what steps we have taken in defence, political independence and military defence in the eight-year Sacred Defence [Iran-Iraq War], such as combating the arrogant powers and precisely consider the strengths of the past forty years. To reinforce these experiences in the second forty years of the Islamic Revolution, we must make use of those very valuable experiences, sometimes obtained at the price of tens of thousands of martyrs, for the second step.”
He said, “On the other hand, we have to look at what we haven’t been able to accomplish in the past forty years in order to achieve the goals that the late Imam Khomeyni, the martyrs and the revolutionaries have given attention to and to take into account those weaknesses. Our officials and our Islamic Seminaries are pursuing this. The path to achieve the goals that we had to achieve in the first forty years was a little slow and we could have done better than we did.”
