RNA – In a visit with several members of Shaykh Ibrahim Zakzaky’s family, Grand Ayatollah Naser Makarem-Shirazi praised the personality of this pious and popular scholar and described him a fighting hero who offered six of his children for Islam.
He expressed his sorrow for the very grave health of Shaykh Zakzaky and his wife and said, “There is no oppression they have not made to Shaykh Zakzaky and his family, and sorrowfully international organizations show indifference toward this issue.”
This Shi’ah source of emulation expressed his sadness regarding the oppressive silence of so-called activists of human rights and leaders of Islamic countries toward this clear oppression, “We condemn these oppressions and crimes toward Shaykh Zakzaky and his family and consider the government of Nigeria liable about them.”
He advised personalities and thinkers of the world of Islam to show more reactions toward this issue and said, “W ask thinkers and scholars in the world of Islam to show their objection toward this issue; and the government of Nigeria should act responsibly regarding this issue as well and should end the oppression toward Shaykh Zakzaky.”
Ayatollah Makarem-Shirazi mentioned the role of Shaykh Zakzaky in developing tendency among people of Nigeria toward Islam and the school of the Ahl al-Bayt (a) and regarded his sacrifices and also the crimes and oppressions made to him rare in the history of Islam.
He said, “Shaykh Zakzaky is indeed a living martyr in the world of Islam and we hope that the voice of these personalities reaches the leaders of Nigeria and they accept the transfer of Shaykh Zakzaky to an Islamic country, so that his medical treatment could be followed up.”
Ayatollah Makarem-Shirazi added, “He [Shaykh Zakzaky] did not make an uprising against the government of Nigeria! He is guilty for having great popularity and influence among people and that they love him.”
At the end of this visit, Ayatollah Makarem-Shirazi prayed for the health of Shaykh Zakzaky and praised his patience.
