RNA – Speaking at a gathering of veterans, self-sacrificers and freed captives from the Sacred Defence [Iran-Iraq War], Grand Ayatollah Hoseyn Nouri-Hamadani referred to verses from the Holy Quran and said, “The veterans lined up like strong forts against the tyrannical enemies and didn’t allow the enemies to attack.”
The revered source of emulation added, “The self-sacrificers deal with God Almighty through faith and struggling on the divine path. Every prophet who has been sent had a book of guidance in one hand and had a tool of jihad in the other hand. For this reason, the prophets have been sent for guidance and jihad.”
He said that the eight years of the Sacred Defence is a great lesson for the Iranian nation and stated, “After the arrogant powers and colonists marginalized Islam, Imam Khomeyni came to the fore as a great figure like the prophets in order to make the will of God and the front of truth victorious over falsehood but the enemies has created a war in order to destroy the Islamic Revolution and pure Islam.”
Ayatollah Nouri-Hamadani continued, “The warriors came to the battlefield in the Sacred Defence in a resounding manner and consolidated the Islamic Revolution. We must always remember the martyrs and the Sacred Defence and we must not forget these great achievements. Some want the martyrs and the culture of the Sacred Defence to be forgotten.”
The teacher in the Islamic Seminaries of Qom added, “The services of martyrs, freed captives and veterans must be explained so that everyone knows that we must respect these warriors and know that the security of the country and the Islamic government is due to the efforts and jihad of these Islamic warriors. Of course, the jihad of the warriors is a war for God but the officials and the people have a duty to appreciate them.”
He said that today, the enemies have more hatred and animosity toward the Islamic Revolution than previously and noted, “Previously, the enemies launched a military war but today, they intend to destroy the Islamic Revolution in other ways. Today, indifference and silence is a sin and therefore, we must be vigilant and active.”
Referring to recent actions by some European countries, Ayatollah Nouri-Hamadani added, “Today, the Europeans want to mediate to solve the problem of Iran and if they are able to solve the problem, they must investigate their own serious problems.”
