Ayatollah Sa’idi said that the United States and Europe have never given up on their arrogance towards Iran and stressed, “Iranian officials must never ignore the empty promises of the arrogant powers.” RNA – In his Friday prayer sermon delivered to a large and fervent crowd of believers at Qom’s Qods Prayer Hall, Ayatollah Sayyed Mohammad Sa’idi referred to President Hasan Rouhani’s visit to the 74th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York and his meetings with the heads of state of various countries and said, “Three European leaders met with President Rouhani in New York and tried to provide an opportunity for him to meet with [the President of the United States Donald] Trump, but President Rouhani refused them and in his speech at the United Nations, he delivered a message from the position of authority to the American government.”
The custodian of the Holy Shrine of Lady Fatimah al-Ma’sumah added, “These three European countries, especially the United Kingdom, have historically viewed Iran as prey and have never abandoned colonialism and arrogance towards Iran. In World War I, Iran suffered the most from this despite declaring its neutrality. Nearly half of the country’s population fell victim to the colonialist powers and died of starvation in this devastating war. The massacre of nearly ten million people is still classified and is a secret in the United Kingdom and they still refuse to release the evidence of this crime.”
Ayatollah Sa’idi said, “During the Imposed War [Iran-Iraq War], these European countries didn’t refrain from offering any assistance to Saddam Husayn. Saddam wasn’t just a number who came to war with Iran. The United States, various European countries and the reactionary countries of the region, along with the unquestioning support of Saddam, inflicted great damage on the people and the Islamic country of Iran.”
The representative of the Supreme Leader in Qom stated, “Now that these European countries are trying to play a mediating role between Iran and the United States and with all the desperate efforts to re-elect Trump in the United States, the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution [Ayatollah Khamenei] decisively stated at the beginning of his dars al-kharij class on jurisprudence that no negotiations will take place on any level between Iran and the United States.”
He said, “The Supreme Leader warned that everyone must know and pay attention to the fact that the Americans’ objective in raising the issue of negotiating with Iran again is a trick. The Supreme Leader also spoke about the Europeans during a recent meeting of the Assembly of Experts and said that the Europeans can’t be trusted at all because they have adhered to the oppressive American sanctions.”
Ayatollah Sa’idi stressed, “We, the people, while appreciating the zealous positions of some officials, urge them never to ignore the empty promises and the bullying conditions of the arrogant powers and to obey the orders of the Supreme Leader in all spheres.”
