Hujjat al-Islam al-Karbala’i stressed that worshipping this world and one’s sensual desires lead to the gradual distancing of man from religion and Imam al-Husayn. According to the correspondent of Rasa News Agency in Najaf Ashraf, Hujjat al-Islam Abdul-Mahdi al-Karbala’i in his Friday prayer sermon delivered to a large and fervent crowd of believers in the Iraqi holy city of Karbala’s Holy Shrine of Imam al-Husayn, said, “The commemoration of Ashura must be in accordance with what Imam al-Husayn willed and be taken in the course of reform so that we see the effects of the movement of the Master of the Martyrs [Imam al-Husayn] through this means.”
The representative of Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Ali al-Sistani in Karbala added, “In the coming days we will see the beginning of the month of Muharram. During these days, the greatest human tragedy in history is commemorated. During such days, the lives of the saints were sacrificed to protect the principles of mankind such as justice, freedom, dignity, the protection of religion, innate nature and faith.”
Hujjat al-Islam al-Karbala’i stated, “The accumulation of sins, the worship of this world and sensual desires lead to the gradual distancing of man from religion, values and Imam al-Husayn. By adhering to the principles of the Master of the Martyrs we can protect the effects of the movement of Imam al-Husayn on ourselves and change our lives for the better as expected by the Purified Imams.”
