RNA – In an exclusive interview with Rasa News Agency, Hujjat al-Islam Abbas Rafati-Na’ini, the spokesman for the Centre for the Management of the Islamic Seminaries of Iran, referred to the Islamic commandment of “enjoining the good and forbidding the wrong,” and said, “Those who engage in enjoining the good and forbidding the wrong need full support from the authorities.”
The teacher in the Islamic Seminary of Qom added, “Islamic rule is a form of rule which doesn’t neglect to fulfill the obligations of Islam, including prayer, fasting, enjoining the good and forbidding the wrong and other religious duties and it’s important for the government to fulfill these obligations.”
Hujjat al-Islam Rafati-Na’ini stressed that enjoining the good and forbidding the wrong in a religious society is essential for all Muslims and said, “Enjoining the good and forbidding the wrong is wajib al-ayni (personal obligation) for most Muslims and wajib al-kifa’i (collective obligation) for some and it’s a indisputable and indispensable duty for an Islamic government.”
His Eminence noted that the Islamic seminaries have a duty to support the scholars who act upon their religious duties in society and engage in enjoining the good and forbidding the wrong in a comprehensive manner and to provide them with academic and spiritual support and to defend their rights.
Referring to the duty of the government to implement divine obligations in society, he stated, “The government is obligated to provide comprehensive support for those who enjoin the good and forbid the wrong in the Islamic society and also must providing the platform for the establishment of this and other divine obligatory duties and the security and judicial systems must specially enter into this arena.”
Hujjat al-Islam Rafati-Na’ini said, “If those who forbid the wrong aren’t supported by the government, then the divine duty in the society comes to a standstill, and the Islamic society diverges from this divine obligation. If government institutions don’t perform their duty to support those who enjoin the good support, by God, they’re responsible.”
