RNA – Speaking at the twenty-first session of a series of discussions on the commentary of the Holy Quran that were held in Qom’s Salmasi Mosque, Ayatollah Mohsen Faqihi referred to verse 89 of Surah al-Baqarah, which says, “And when there came to them a Book from God, confirming that which is with them – and earlier they would pray for victory over the pagans – so when there came to them what they recognized, they denied it. So may the curse of God be on the faithless!”
The member of the Society of Seminary Teachers of Qom stated that that due to material intentions, the Jewish people denied the of the signs of the last prophet, Muhammad, and didn’t follow him added, “Jews, for the sake of maintaining their wealth and power, denied the signs of the Prophet Muhammad which were mentioned in the Torah.”
Referring to the fact that the Children of Israel and the Jews knowingly and deliberately committed sins, he said, “Because of their obstinacy, despite knowing the truth with all of their being, they denied the truth and deviated.”
Ayatollah Faqihi pointed out, “The Jewish people don’t adhere to any issue other than their material interests and in regard to their interests, they don’t hesitate to violate the rights of others.”
The teacher in the Islamic Seminary argued that man must always avoid haughtiness and pride and stated, “Man must always protect the virtues of piety because there is no guarantee that he is on the right path until the end of his life. Sometimes due to the effect of lack of piety or haughtiness and pride at a certain moment, man is deviated and turns away from the truth.”
Referring to the fact that man must never consider himself safe from the evil of Satan and said, “Man must not think that he is always on the path of guidance and that Satan can no longer deviate him because we aren’t safe from the evil of Satan for the rest of our lives.”
Ayatollah Faqihi emphasized that the actions of some people are in conflict with the culture of awaiting the reappearance of Imam al-Mahdi and said, “We must always institutionalize the elements of the awaiting the reappearance in ourselves and realize that only reciting Du’a al-Nudbah isn’t sufficient for awaiting the reappearance. That a man recites Du’a Kumayl and Du’a al-Nudbah and then commits a sin after a little while isn’t correct.”
His Eminence noted that true waiting means to avoid sin and noted, “The true believer is the one who refrains from backbiting, slander, making insults and committing sins. One must know that only understanding the truth isn’t sufficient but rather practicing the religious truths has value.”
He states that the divine religions confirm each other and said, “We have no opposition to the other divine religions but we are strongly struggling against aggression, oppression and killing.”
