RNA – Hujjat al-Islam Sayyed Hasan Rabbani, the head of the Centre for Services of the Islamic Seminary, and a group of officials from this organization met with Grand Ayatollah Ja’far Sobhani for a discussion.
Hujjat al-Islam Rabbani presented a report on the significant presence of seminarians in helping the victims of the recent floods in Iran as well as the plans of the Centre for Services of the Islamic Seminary to collect cash and non-cash donations from scholars and clerics and distribute it among the flood victims.
Ayatollah Sobhani thanked the people, as well as the Basijis, for their extensive participation in their assistance to the flood victims.
The revered source of emulation also gave a sum of money collected by students of the Imam Sadiq Institute to Hujjat al-Islam Rabbani to give to the victims.
Ayatollah Sobhani said, “If I was able, I would go to the flood-stricken areas to assist the people.”
But the most interesting part of the visit was that Ayatollah Sobhani donated the money he received from the sale of his own personal house to the flood victims, giving the funds to Hujjat al-Islam Rabbani to distribute.
Heavy rains and flash floods have affected more than 2,000 cities and towns across almost all of Iran’s 31 provinces, according to the Iranian Red Crescent.
An estimated ten million people have been affected in some way, including more than half a million who have been displaced from their homes, some permanently. At least 78 people have died and more than 1,136 injured.
