Rasa – Ayatollah Sobhani said that knowledge which leads to colonialism, exploitation and oppression against others is not desirable in Islam. RNA – Speaking at a ceremony unveiling the Majmu’ah-ye Golshan software, Ayatollah Ja’far Sobhani referred to the verses of the Holy Quran and said, “The position of knowledge and knowledge is clear to all and the importance of knowledge is sufficient such that the word ‘ilm’ [knowledge] and its derivatives are repeated about 780 times in the Holy Quran.”
The revered source of emulation added, “God elevates the beneficent of the world in terms of degree. God Almighty will raise the degree of two groups of people – the people of faith and the people of knowledge. Although the knowledge that is in Islam is knowledge is the source of the perfection of human beings but the knowledge that has aspects of destruction isn’t desirable in Islam.”
He said, “The West is seeking knowledge but knowledge that favours human happiness, however it’s for possession and enjoyment. However, in Islam, knowledge is desirable for the happiness of mankind.”
Ayatollah Sobhani noted, “Knowledge and faith must be together to bring man to perfection and prosperity. Therefore, those who make atomic bombs don’t think that they have raised knowledge but they have raised ignorance because their work has a destructive aspect.”
The prominent teacher in the Islamic Seminary of Qom stated that knowledge must provide happiness for mankind in this world and the hereafter and said, “The knowledge that causes colonialism, exploitation and the creation of power to oppress others isn’t desirable in Islam.”
He also referred to the activities of religious scholars in the preservation of Islam and said, “After the Prophet and the Ahl al-Bayt, the scholars of Islam took to the pen and through it and their explanations, they protected Islam. Despite there being many works, Shi’ah scholars aren’t well-known in the world.”
Ayatollah Sobhani said that Shi’ahs must introduce their scholars so that everyone knows that Shi’ah Islam isn’t distorted and added, “The Shi’ahs have had scholars who have been omitted – that is, they haven’t been written in history and haven’t been remembered. During the time of the Allamah al-Hilli, there were 400 mujtahids but ultimately, they have introduced fifty people and the works of others haven’t been introduced and the governments have oppressed the Shi’ahs.”
He emphasized upon the introduction of Shi’ism and its scholars to the world and said, “Shi’ah works must be introduced so that the people of the world know of Shi’ah excellent and become well-acquainted with the Shi’ah.”
