RNA – In a statement realised on February 10th, Grand Ayatollah Lotfollah Safi-Golpaygani, a revered source of emulation, expressed grief and sorrow over the martyrdom of a Shi’ah child in the holy city of Madinah at the hands of a Saudi Wahhabi taxi driver and condemned the silence of international organizations in regard to the brutal murder of the child and considered it a great tragedy.
Zakariya Badr al-Jabir, was a six-year-old Shi’ah boy who went to Madinah along with his mother to visit the Prophet’s Mosque and was martyred by the driver who repeatedly stabbed the child in the neck with a piece of broken glass until he was beheaded in front of his mother, witness accounts of the gruesome killing said.
In his statement, Ayatollah Safi-Golpaygani said, “The martyrdom of a Shi’ah child in the city of Madinah at the hands of a person who has filthy anti-Islamic and inhuman thoughts is emblematic of the evilness of those who have the outward appearance of human beings but whom, unfortunately, have called people toward deviancy, perdition and disconnection from God in the Holy Mosques and in the centre of the revelation of the Holy Quran for many years.”
His Eminence called for the Islamic countries to take a position in this regard.
