RNA – In a meeting with a number of police commanders, Grand Ayatollah Hoseyn Nouri-Hamadani explained that the 9th of Dey [December 30th] is a “Day of God” and said, “The 9th of Dey is a very important day in the history of the Islamic Revolution and we must give it its due attention at all times.”
The revered source of emulation noted that since the victory of the Islamic Revolution in 1979, all of the enemies have ambushed Iran to eliminate the Revolution by overthrowing it because Imam Khomeyni reintroduced the Islam to the people that the enemies had strived to marginalize and distance from the lives of the people through distortion.
Ayatollah Nouri-Hamadani said, “The enemies knew that from the time of its rising, Islam was founded by the people from an ‘Age of Ignorance’ and became unique in terms of power and civilization. At a time when there were no universities or libraries in all of Europe, Islam was able to introduce great scholars and scientists to the world.”
The teacher in the Islamic Seminary of Qom added that the phenomenon which sought to prevent the progress of Islam in 2009, assumed Ashura is normative and must be confronted. Therefore, they mobilized all of their powers to undermine the Revolution and break the norms of Ashura, which must not be forgotten.
He pointed out that if the people participated in a weak manner in the 9th of Dey protests, today, the Islamic Revolution wouldn’t have remained and said, “With the presence of the revolutionary people on the 9th of Dey, Wilayat al-Faqih [Guardianship of the Jurisprudent] was manifested again and demonstrated that the Islamic Revolution of Iran deals with religion and hearts of the people. There are many governments in the world but the Iranian government is the only government that operates in the realm of religion.”
Stating that before the victory of the Islamic Revolution, foreign countries determined who was a minister and stated, “Before the victory of the Revolution, even our offices were dominated by the hegemonic powers but today it is not so. Although today, the same departments exist but their structure has changed and everyone has come to serve the people and society.”
On December 30, 2009, millions of Iranians held nationwide protests to condemn the foreign-orchestrated unrest which had erupted following the presidential elections earlier that year.
People were especially angered by incidents that had taken place days earlier in Tehran, where a group of demonstrators offended the sanctities of the nation on the day of Ashura, the martyrdom anniversary of Imam al-Husayn. the third Shi’ah Imam.
