RNA - Addressing a large and fervent congregation of the people in Tehran on Friday, Hojjatoleslam Aboutorabifard said, "Today the Islamic Republic's Armed Forces and Navy in the true sense of the word are deterring enemies, are powerful and protect full security in the country."
The senior Iranian cleric called on the Iranian Army and other Armed Forces to boost their capabilities, and said, "Our Armed Forces, including the Air Force, play an important role in the progress of the Islamic Iran and the Muslim World which is praiseworthy."
In relevant remarks on Wednesday, Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei urged the Iranian Armed Forces, specially the Navy, to further reinvigorate their capabilities and deterrence power.
"The Islamic Republic of Iran does not intend to start a war against anyone but you (Armed Forces) should increase your capabilities to the extent that not only does the enemy fear attacking Iran but also the shadow of war against the Iranian nation will fade away with the help of the Armed Forces' solidarity, might and effective deployment," Ayatollah Khamenei said, addressing Navy officials and commanders in Tehran on the occasion of the Navy Day in Iran.
According to Fars News Agancy, he added that the Armed Forces' preparedness plays as a deterrent power against the enemy threats.
Ayatollah Khamenei, meantime, lauded the progress and achievements made by the Iranian Navy, and said delivering Sahand destroyer and Fateh and Qadir submarines to the Naval forces heralds possibility for further progress.
Iran has made major achievements in manufacturing different weapons and military equipment.
