RNA – In an exclusive interview with Rasa News Agency on the sidelines of the 32nd ‎International Islamic Unity Conference in Tehran, Hujjat al-Islam Sayyed Reza Taghavi, the ‎head of the World Union of Proximity Among Religions, referred to the importance and ‎necessity of the unity of the Islamic ummah and said, “Unity for the Islamic ummah is a ‎constant necessity.” ‎

He added, “The commemoration of Islamic Unity Week doesn’t mean that unity must be ‎observed during this week only but rather the naming of this week is only aimed at ‎strengthening unity among Muslims. Islamic Unity Week, with the aim of building culture in ‎this field, is considered as very important.”‎

Hujjat al-Islam Taghavi continued, “In the world today, where the neo-colonialist and the ‎imperialist powers have endangered the interests and material resources of Muslims and the ‎ummah, the unity between Shi’ah and Sunni Muslims is one of the essential and obligatory ‎requirements of Muslim life.”‎

The secretary of the Central Council of the Combatant Clergy Association emphasized that ‎under the shadow of unity, Muslims must demonstrate the power of Islam and the Islamic ‎ummah to the arrogant and bullying powers, said, “The victory of the Islamic ummah is only ‎achievable in the light of unity.” ‎

He acknowledged the role of the scholars in strengthening unity as very important and ‎stated, “Intellectuals, scientists and scholars, especially the religious scholars, have always ‎been guides to the people. The people received religious and religious information from ‎religious scholars. Therefore, they have played a very important role in influencing the ‎creation of unity in the Islamic societies and in this regard, history has proven its ‎importance.”‎

Hujjat al-Islam Taghavi continued, “Throughout history, scholars have always been at the ‎forefront of the people and the people have also set foot on the stage of the political ‎struggle by following the scholars. The great example of this is the Islamic Revolution of Iran ‎led by Imam Khomeyni, who achieved victory through unity and solidarity.”‎
