Rasa - Tehran's provisional Friday Prayers Leader Ayatollah Seyed Ahmad Khatami blasted Washington for continuing its nurturing of terrorist groups across the world, and said that the Islamic states should unite against the US.

RNA - Addressing a large and fervent congregation of the people in Tehran on Friday, Ayatollah Khatami said, "The recent statements by US President Donald Trump were very cheap as the world is fully aware who supports and nurtures the terrorists; who sent terrorists to Syria."

Ayatollah Khatami's remarks came in reaction to recent anti-Iran statements of President Trump who accused Iran of supporting terrorists.

The senior cleric noted that the Muslim World will give a crushing response to the US by maintaining its unity.

The remarks by the cleric came after hawkish statements by US President Donald Trump against Iran.

According to Fars News Agancy, Trump issued a statement on Tuesday to declare his view on ties with Saudi Arabia over the Khashoggi case, but he started the statement by branding Iran as a terrorist nation before throwing his weight behind the Riyadh rulers.

"The Iranian nation is considered the world’s leading sponsor of terror,” he said.

The US president defied the nation’s intelligence agencies and a growing body of evidence to declare his unswerving loyalty to Saudi Arabia, asserting that Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s culpability for the killing of Jamal Khashoggi might never be known.

In 633 words, punctuated by eight exclamation points and written in an impolitic style that sounded like Mr. Trump’s off-the-cuff observations, the statement was a stark distillation of the Trump worldview: remorselessly transactional, heedless of the facts, determined to put America’s interests above human rights and even people's lives.
