RNA – In an speech, Hujjat al-Islam Sayyid Hashim Safiuddin, the chairman of the Executive ‎Council of Hezbollah, described the actions of the United States against Hezbollah as ‎‎“natural” and noted, “We know very well that the enemies will never stop their animosity ‎toward us and currently, the United States seeking to put greater pressures on Hezbollah.”‎

Referring to the announcement by the President of the United States, Donald Trump, to ‎impose tougher sanctions against Hezbollah, the renowned Lebanese Shi’ah cleric said, “We ‎don’t expect anything but for the United States to increase their sanctions, attacks and ‎aggression against Hezbollah.”‎

On October 25th, Trump signed new sanctions targeting the Lebanese Islamic Resistance ‎group and political party, which is considered a terrorist organization by the United States.‎

Hujjat al-Islam Safiuddin said, “The United States and the Zionist regime have used all their ‎power to destroy the Islamic Resistance but what happened at the end was a decisive ‎victory for the Islamic Resistance and the destruction of the enemies’ plans.”‎

His Eminence added, “Defending our country and our country is a source of honour, dignity ‎and pride for us and in 2000 and 2006, we liberated and defended our country. Also, we ‎stood against the actions of the Takfiri terrorist phenomenon in Syria and on the border of ‎Lebanon with power. These achievements and honours are known to the whole world and ‎belong to the martyrs, veterans and all those who took the path of resistance and sacrificed‎ ‎and endured the existing problems.”‎

He stated, “The Islamic Resistance protected Lebanon and presented the most complete ‎model during the history of the country such that we can now say that the true ‎independence of Lebanon began with the Islamic Resistance and that the Lebanese people ‎are living with dignity, freedom and independence in its truest sense.”‎

Hujjat al-Islam Safiuddin added, “Before the onset of the Islamic Resistance, the Lebanese ‎people were struggling with various dangers and were living with constant threats. If it wasn’t ‎for the current security and stability in Lebanon, which was achieved on the basis of victories ‎in Syria, Iraq and the region, Lebanon would not have been able to establish and implement ‎a new electoral law and hold the [May 6th] parliamentary election.”‎

Referring to a group of independent Sunni members of parliament who have insisted on ‎being represented in the government, the senior Hezbollah official stated, “We know full well ‎that the formation of a government requires consensus, understanding and dialogue. The ‎results of the parliamentary elections introduced new facts, such as that there are ‎independent members of parliament requesting a portion of their right to be represented. If ‎the next government is the government of consensus and national unity, this is a rightful ‎demand. "‎

In conclusion, he said, “That which the independent members of parliament are calling for is ‎their natural right to represent a good and important segment of the population and ‎therefore their natural right to be in the government. This is our logic, which we offer calmly, ‎realistically and objectively in order to reach a natural result and we stand with them and ‎support them, because their demands are rightful.”‎
