RNA - In a meeting with members of secretariat of the Ethics and Media Conference, Grand Ayatollah Abdollah Javadi-Amoli offered his condolences on the Arba’in of Imam al-Husayn and said, “If we want to have a human life, we must do in accordance with the verse, “Oh you who have faith! Answer God and the Apostle when he summons you to that which will give you life” (Holy Quran 8:24). Here God has addressed the living people so this means we are the dead who are apparently alive and must achieve our true and human life. The explanation of this issue is that some have a vegetal life. Some who grow a little and when affection is created in their soul, have gone from a vegetal life to an animalistic life. In the next stage, if one achieves a university or seminary education, he will have gone from an animalistic life to a human life.”
The prominent exegetist of the Holy Quran added, “Religion says that if you want to live, you must act in accordance with Holy Quran but nowadays, a large amount of the budget of the world is being spent on the manufacture of weapons to massacre [innocent people] and weapons factories are working around the clock [in order to manufacture these weapons]. The outcome of World War I and World War II led to the deaths of more than seventy million people and also today is the era of proxy wars. A person who has remained in the animalistic stage of life has made no achievement except killing and murder.”
Noting that a man who remains in the animalistic stage of life will have no achievement except killing and murder, Ayatollah Javadi-Amoli said, “There is still a long way until Islamic demands and teachings are realized in the field of media but there is definitely the ability and capacity in this country [Iran]. The path is clear. The media must strive to familiarize society with religious and moral teachings. This is the main duty of the media.”
He added, “The main duty of the media in regard to ethical issues is to teach people and society that death is leaving one’s body and not rotting and in the face of death, we make death die and not die ourselves. Therefore, human beings are an immortal phenomenon. If we comprehend and believe in this principle, we will never stray [from right path] and never block someone’s way. Thus, our problem is that we have not known mankind. The duty of the media is to acquaint the people with the truth of mankind.”
