RNA – In an exclusive interview with Rasa News Agency, Hujjat al-Islam Askar Dirbaz, the representative of the people of West Azerbaijan province in the Assembly of Experts, said that one of the best ways to prevent extravagance among some officials and members of parliament is the discussion of “transparency” and said, “This issue makes it such that the officials are put under the pressure of public opinion and are more careful in their behaviour.”
The head of the University of Qom continued, “Of course, it has to be mentioned that ‘transparency’ isn’t absolute transparency, but it must maintain exceptions in order to separate this category of security information from that which the exposure of has costs for the Islamic system of government.”
Hujjat al-Islam Dirbaz noted, “If we abandon the few exceptions of transparency, in the transparency that will remain, many of the vices and tendencies will be modified into extravagance. If people are aware of the outward appearance of the lives of their officials and witness simple living among them, there is no doubt that they will be optimistic about the system.”
He said that the officials must actualize and represent the goals of the Islamic Revolution and the intentions of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution [Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei] through their behaviour and added, “The Supreme Leader expressed his support for Iranian manufactured commodities and if the people witness that the officials of this country are using these kinds of goods, there is no doubt that in addition to being optimistic about Iranian manufactured commodities and the behaviour of their officials, they will also support Iranian manufactured commodities.”
Hujjat al-Islam Dirbaz added, “If transparency exists, when people witness the tendency toward extravagance and luxury in the behaviour of their officials, they will have more serious demands to make them correct their behaviour.”
