RNA – Speaking at a meeting of the Guardian Council on September 26th, Ayatollah Ahmad Jannati commemorated Sacred Defence Week, which marks the beginning of the Iran-Iraq War, and stressed that it’s essential to protect and repeat the courage and the sacrifices of the warriors given the current circumstances, stating, “The bravery and sacrifices of the warriors in the eight-year long Holy Defence must be transferred to future generations so that we understand that Islam and the Islamic Revolution have the ability to confront all powers.”
The secretary-general of the Guardian Council referred to the bitter and horrific terrorist attack against a military parade in the southwestern Iranian city of Ahvaz which was perpetrated by the anti-revolutionary al-Ahwaziyah movement and offered his condolences to the families of the martyrs and the wounded and called for the responsible authorities to swiftly punish the perpetrators of this tragic incident.
He argued that although this attack was regretful and sadness, it led to the unity and harmony of the brave people of Ahvaz and their reaction to this terrible act of terrorism has encouraged their friends and disillusioned their enemies.
Ayatollah Jannati also celebrated the beginning of the school year by quoting the words of the late founder of the Islamic Revolution, Imam Khomeyni, who said, “If you raise our little children in an Islamic manner, the independence and liberty of the country will be insured” and added, “In this regard, it’s necessary to employee teachers who possess Islamic morality and training.”
The senior cleric expressed concern over the high prices and the gradually increasing costs of commodities and services in Iran and said, “The decline in the value of the national currency is unacceptable and an urgent and effective solution must be applied.”
In conclusion, Ayatollah Jannati praised President Hasan Rouhani’s speech at the United Nations General Assembly and congratulated him for his dignified stance against the hostile positions of the United States in his speech and considered them as taken from a position of power.
