RNA – Speaking at Wednesday’s meeting of the Guardian Council, Ayatollah Ahmad Jannati offered his condolences on the martyrdom anniversary of the leader of the Shi’ah faith, Imam Ja’far al-Sadiq, and said, “Whatever the Shi’ahs and the Islamic Seminaries have today is the legacy of the labour and sacrifices of the Infallible Imams, especially the sixth Imam, and we must appreciate the efforts of the Imams by protecting and disseminating this lofty school.”
Criticizing the economic and livelihood situation of the Iranian people, the secretary-general of the Guardian Council urged the politicians to mobilize all their efforts to solve the problems of the people in order for the people to benefit from the water and electricity which is their basic requirements in a assured manner.
Ayatollah Jannati appreciated the efforts of the Khatam al-Anbiya Air Defence Base to establish access to water for the people of Khorramshahr and Abadan and said, “The way out of the current problems is through revolutionary thinking and action, which most of the authorities apparently still do not pay much attention to.”
He emphasized that the problems of the country can be solved through revolutionary planning and thinking and said, “We must make society, and especially the revolutionary forces, hopeful in order to solve the problems, because the injection of frustration into society is the demand of the enemies.”
In conclusion, Ayatollah Jannati referred to the conspiracies of the enemies, including the United States and Saudi Arabia, to bring the Iranian people to their knees and added, “God-willing, with unseen divine assistance, the brilliant and hopeful guidance of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution [Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei] and the sacrifices of the revolutionary forces we will pass through this stage with pride.”
Two weeks ago, protests over water shortage and its salinity have turned violent in Iran’s southwestern port city of Khorramshahr, with demonstrators damaging public property.
Khorramshahr Governor Valiollah Hayati said the initial protest over the issue of water salinity had been peaceful but that several “troublemakers” had taken advantage of the situation to wreak havoc, setting up bonfires and destroying public property at an intersection.
