RNA – Hujjat al-Islam Na’im Qasim, the deputy secretary-general of Lebanon’s Hezbollah Islamic Resistance movement, praised the successful holding of parliamentary elections in the country on May 6th and called for a new government to be formed quickly.
“Lebanon managed to hold good parliamentary elections with the best results,” the senior Lebanese Shi’ah cleric said, adding, “Because the elections were based upon proportional representation and the outcome indicates the choice of the people.”
He continued, “We are calling for the quick formation of a national unity government because it is in the interest of all.”
Hujjat al-Islam Qasim then addressed the issue of the presence of more than a million Syrian refugees in Lebanon, saying that the United States and the Western countries don’t want to solve the refugee problem but rather they are preventing it from being resolved because they believe that the presence of refugees in Lebanon is due to the fact that the Syrian government is unable to supporting its people. After they have been defeated in their seven-year-old war against Syria, they want to use this means to apply pressure on the Syrian government to fulfill their political demands.
His Eminence added, “But we believe that displaced people must return to their homes because displacement is a temporary state, we want to provide security for them and take all the necessary measures to establish appropriate facilities in this area, even if it is going slowly in the current stage. The best solution is for the Lebanese and Syrian governments to agree on a regular return program for refugees. We urge the Lebanese government to seriously pursue the issue of coordination with the Syrian government for a plan that will provide a specific period for returning refugees.”
The deputy secretary-general of Hezbollah said, “For the entire world, it has been determined that the United States is a ruthless, arrogant and criminal country. The problem of the United States is not just with Hezbollah, Iran, Syria and Yemen, but it has problems with the Europeans, Russia, China and the entire world because they want to impose oppression and its achievements on all countries. The United States wanted to impose its options on the region, but wasn’t successful. The country was defeated in the 2006 Israeli-imposed war on Lebanon and was defeated in their war on Syrian that began in 2011, they suffered another defeat during the 2003 occupation of Iraq and now they were defeated in Yemen because Saudi Arabia doesn’t have the ability to realize any achievements on the political field or on the battlefield.”
Hujjat al-Islam Qasim said, “Do not forget the usurper Israel. All the calamities in the region and the world are from Israel but this regime moves and uses its mercenaries, supporters and spy services. This regime is preparing for the ‘Deal of the Century’ (an American proposal for the Palestine issue) but due to the Islamic Resistance and the nation of Palestine, who said ‘no’ to the ‘Deal of the Century,’ Israel cannot advance anything. We are certain that as long as the Islamic Resistance exists in the region, no American and Israeli project will be implemented.”
