Rasa – Hujjat al-Islam Aale-Hashem said, “If today the Popular Mobilization Forces in Iraq, Hezbollah in Lebanon, the Fatimyoun in Syria and Ansarullah in Yemen were able to change the equations and be victorious against the Takfiris and aggressions, it is because they took the ‘Organization for Mobilization of the Oppressed’ [Basij] as their model.”

RNA – Speaking at a joint military and police ceremony marking the 35th anniversary of liberation of the Iranian city of Khorramshahr, in Tabriz, Hujjat al-Islam Sayyed Mohammad-Ali Aale-Hashem, the representative of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution in East Azerbaijan province, noted, “This day is a reminder of the liberation of Khorramshahr and the expulsion of the invaders of the Ba’ath regime in Iraq from this epical city and the persistence of a heroic nation against a hegemonic power which was achieved through the culture and thought of the Basij and the discourse of the Islamic Resistance.”

The Friday prayer leader of Tabriz referred to the statement “Khorramshahr has been liberated by God” by Imam Khomeyni, saying, “At the end of the battle, Imam Khomeyni made this statement and remarked that the Basijis of the Islamic world must think about the establishment of an Islamic state and that this is possible.”

Referring to the role of the armed forces in the liberation of Khorramshahr, Hujjat al-Islam Aale-Hashem said, “The sacrifices and warriors forces of the armed forces including the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and the heroic Basij, as well as the courageousness of the army of the Islamic Republic and the sacrifices of the construction jihad, led to the liberation of Khorramshahr.”

He stressed that “Jihadi and accurate management during the eight years of Imposed War [Iran-Iraq War] and resistance against the arrogant powers, alongside the support of the popular forces and the leadership of a supreme source of emulation, demonstrated that Islam has the ability to be victorious and govern the world.”

Referring to the victory of the Islamic Resistance Front in the 2006 33-Day War led by Hezbollah against the Zionist regime in Lebanon, His Eminence said, “By taking advantage of the culture of Islamic Resistance in Iran and by modeling themselves after the culture of the Sacred Defense and the liberation of Khorramshahr, Hezbollah broke the myth of the Zionist regime’s invincibility and reached this stage of history.”

Hujjat al-Islam Aale-Hashem continued, “Today, the Islamic Resistance Axis has disturbed the attitudes and designs of the hegemonic powers and their servants.”

The former head of the army’s Ideological and Political Organization argued that the Basijis of the Muslim world today are the actors on the scene and said, “By remembering the late Imam and with the minimum facilities, the committed, warrior-like and martyrdom-seeking youth in Iraq, Lebanon, Syria, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Yemen came to the forefront and with firm faith, they took initiative.”

He added that if today the Popular Mobilization Forces in Iraq, Hezbollah in Lebanon, the Fatimyoun in Syria and Ansarullah in Yemen were able to change the equations and achieve victory against the Takfiris and aggressors, it is because they took the ‘Organization for Mobilization of the Oppressed’ [Basij] as their model.”

Referring to the conditions given by the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution [Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei] in regards to Iran’s remaining in the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JPCOA) after the withdraw of the United States from the landmark nuclear agreement, Hujjat al-Islam Aale-Hashem said, “One of the conditions of the Supreme Leader was that the Europeans must commit themselves to not interfering in the internal affairs of Iran, especially in regards to its defense and missile industry.”

He emphasized, “Today, the secret of the victory of our warriors and our armed forces is resistance against the enemies. Just as our warriors stood against the enemies like mountains during the Holy Defense Era, today, this spirit must remain today. If this remains, know for sure that this is our victory.”

The Liberation of Khorramshahr was the Iranian recapture of the port city of Khorramshahr from the Ba’athist regime in Iraq on May 24, 1982, during the Iran–Iraq War. The Iraqis had captured the city early in the war on October, 26 1980. The successful retaking of the city was part of Operation Bayt al-Moqaddas.
