RNA – In an interview with Rasa News Agency, Ayatollah Abbas Ka’bi referred to the withdrawal of the United States from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and said, “There is good in that has happened and this good is in a several dimensions.”
The representative of the people of Khuzestan province in the Assembly of Experts added that the withdrawal from the United States from the JCPOA revealed the wicked, evil, perverse and false face of the United States at a greater level to the Iranian people and this is something good because it has led to the solidary and unity of the Iranian people against the United States, who are known as the “Great Satan.”
He stated that the international credibility of the United States has been violated through its flagrant violation of international law in the world and added, “The voiding of the diplomacy of compromise and the legitimacy of the diplomacy of resistance and revolution against the United States and Europe became more evident.”
Ayatollah Ka’bi continued, “With the actions of the United States it became obvious that the economic openness through having hope in foreigners and treaties such as the JCPOA cannot be achieved but also the interests of the nation will vanish. The only way to open up the economy is through strengthening internal production and relying on the Resistance Economy and economic resistance.”
The member of the Society of Seminary Teachers of Qom emphasized that the Iranian people have become more determined in their economic struggle and against the economic and psychological war of the United States and the enemies and said, “Just as the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution [Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei] said, ‘The dignity and pride of the Iranian people will not be spoiled by the stubbornness and bullying of the Americans.’”
He said, “The JCPOA is a two-way commitment – on one side is Iran and the other side is the P5+1. Iran has fulfilled all its obligations but the P5+1 has not fulfilled any of its obligations. It must not be analyzed that the United States was annoyed, destroyed and now there are five other members.”
Ayatollah Ka’bi said that the United States, which violated the treaty, had to fulfill 80 percent of its obligations towards Iran to lift the sanctions but it did not fulfill any obligations and only 20 percent of the commitments are the responsibility of the Europeans.
The senior Iranian politician and cleric added, “Can the Europeans take responsibility for 100% of their commitments? This position guarantees that, as the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution said, that the Europeans are not reliable. From a legal perspective, the JCPOA is an international agreement which ends with any violation by the opposite side as led by the United States.”
Ayatollah Ka’bi stressed that the commitment of the three European countries, if they act honestly, cannot guarantee the fulfillment of their commitments to the JCPOA. For this reason, the JPCOA is finished as an agreement and added, “Islamic Iran can take urgent and decisive action in relation to the increase of its nuclear abilities with determination, trust in God, honour and dignity and the support of the Iranian people and there must be punitive measures for the offending countries.”
Speaking in the Diplomatic Reception Room at the White House in Washington, DC, on May 8th, the President of the United States, Donald Trump, announced his decision to withdraw the United States from the nuclear deal between Iran and the P5+1 group of countries [China, France, Russia, the United Kingdom, and the United States; plus Germany] and to re-impose sanctions against the Islamic Republic.
