RNA – In an exclusive interview with Rasa News Agency, Hujjat al-Islam Mojtaba Zonnour, a member of the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission in Iran’s Islamic Consultative Assembly, referred to the April 14th attack by the United States, the United Kingdom and France on Syria and said, “Although the attack was calculated and targeted, its outcome was blind and unpredictable.”
The representative of the people of Qom in the Islamic Consultative Assembly continued, “The attack was nothing but shameful and harmful for its organizers. It is a continuation of the failures that the United States has suffered in Lebanon, Afghanistan, Syria and Yemen.”
Referring to the words of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei, about the losses suffered by the United States, he added, “This attack has led to the weakening of the United States and increased the strength of the Islamic Resistance Axis.”
In explaining the goals that the United States sought to achieve through their attack on Syria, Hujjat al-Islam Zonnour said, “From the terrorists’ perspective, they have been disappointed and defeated, especially with the events in Eastern Ghoutah, where elements allied to Saudi Arabia were rooted out and were transported to areas like Tripoli so they can no longer have an effect on Syria.”
His Eminence continued, “One of the goals of the United States is to pump false and transient hope into the body of terrorists. Saudi Arabia is a close friend of the Zionists and has been the loser in these incidents and has provided the full cost for this attack and once again, they played the role of the lactating cow for the United States and its allies in order to demonstrate their power.”
He described the attack on Syria as a sign of the presence of Western and Arab countries in the country and said, “Although these countries were trying to cover their heavy defeats of the past, they weren’t able to bring about great harm. All targets that had been attacked had already been evacuated.”
Referring to the words of the leaders of the attack on Syria and their experts, Hujjat al-Islam Zonnour said, “By they own admission, the results and achievements of the operation were equal to zero but the Islamic Resistance still remains. With these attacks, the disgust and hatred of the people of the region for the United States, its allies, the Zionists and the House of Saud will increase.”
In conclusion, he stated, “Those who target the peace of the region must know that they will pay for their actions. The Islamic Resistance Front will not respond in an emotional manner, but rather they will respond to the attacks in a determined, calculated and planned manner.”
On April 14, the United States, France and the United Kingdom carried out missile attacks on a number of targets in Syria in response to a suspected chemical attack in the Syrian town of Douma, near Damascus, that reportedly took place on April 7th. Syria has rejected any role in the alleged attack, which has yet to be investigated.
