RNA – According to Rasa News Agency, Ayatollah Mohsen Mojtahed-Shabestari, a member of the Assembly of Experts spoke on the issue of “Imam Khomeyni’s Practical and Academic Activities in the Islamic Revolutionary Struggle” at Tehran’s Ayatollah Iravani Seminary today.

In his remarks, the renowned Iranian cleric said, “Order and coherence in the Islamic society are indebted to the Imam of the Ahlul-Bayt and following them will lead to order.”

He added, “For each society, a pole of thought is needed. An individual needs to be considered as the final word in regard to political and other important Islamic issues and the people must be his last words as without him, order and solidarity won’t be achieved in society. Divergence in Islamic society is very dangerous.”

Ayatollah Mojtahed-Shabestani stated, “A clear example of a jurisprudent, a narrator of hadiths and the vicegerent of the imams in our time was Imam Khomeyni, who was unparalleled in Islamic history from an academic and practical perspective. For many centuries, great and famous scholars have come forth and they have written jurisprudential texts and taught Islamic sciences but none of these scholarly, jurisprudential and philosophical greats have reached the status of the Imam Khomeyni. In addition to his jurisprudential authority and his great knowledge, he had a political vision.”

The dean of the Ayatollah Iravani Seminary noted, “In Najaf, Imam Khomeyni raised the issue of Wilayat al-Faqih [Guardianship of the Jurisprudent]. One of the valuable discussions of the late Imam has been the discussion of this argument and he explained rational and transmitted proofs in Najaf. This is the scientific journey of Imam Khomeyni in his fight against domestic tyranny and foreign colonialism which he began in 1963.”

He said, “The other scholars had accused the ruling party, but the Imam was the target of the sharp edge of the monarchy’s attacks and Imam Khomeyni stated, ‘The Shah is the head of corruption and the royal court but the others didn’t dare to express this themselves.’ The Imam braved the dangers and raised these issues. His speech about the disgraceful Capitulation Bill led to his 15-year exile to Turkey and Najaf.”

Ayatollah Mojtahed-Shabestani stated that the struggles continued during the fifteen years he was exiled and he issued his statements and in Tehran, his students, distributed these statements, including Martyr Mortaza Motahhari and Martyr Sayyed Mohammad Beheshti and others who were members of the Combatant Clergy Association. This revolution arose from the blessed being of Imam Khomeyni – a revolution that no one thought would relegate a monarchy to the dustbin of history and another to be established on the basis of Wilayat al-Faqih.”

He added, “From that time, the Imam had engaging in a struggle against domestic tyranny and foreign colonialism and from the outset, he referred to the Pahlavi regime as the ‘head of corruption’ and introduced the United States as the ‘Great Satan,’ which led to the destruction of the ‘Den of Spies’ which was carried out with the permission of Imam Khomeyni. Now, some people accept the thoughts of the Imam but in some of their words, a tendency toward the United States is witnessed.”

Ayatollah Mojtahed-Shabestani noted that some people think that Iran’s problems can be resolved through negotiations and building relations with the United States, but the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Khamenei, stressed that the anger of United States towards Iran isn’t due to the nuclear issue but because of the authority of the people and because of the fact that Islam has created power for the country.
