Ayatollah Alavi-Gorgani:
Rasa – Referring to the wilayah as the criterion for the guidance and misguidance of mankind, Ayatollah Alavi-Gorgani emphasized that the officials of the Islamic establishment must be careful not to become separated from Wilayat al-Faqih.
RNA – During a meeting with a group of Basijis and members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, Grand Ayatollah Sayyed Mohammad-Ali Alavi-Gorgani stated that we Shi’ahs resort to wilayah (guardianship) and said, “Wilayat al-Faqih [Guardianship of the Jurisprudent] is one of the particular issues of Twelver Shi’ah Islam. It is a source of pride for us to be the defenders of the shrines of wilayah and we consider ourselves as under the shadow of Wilayat al-Faqih in the world.”
The revered source of emulation added, “The promise of God is the truth and undoubtedly the ultimate victory will be from those who are on the side of truth. Therefore, after oppression engulfs the world, an individual will come to the aid of the oppressed. Although our numbers in the world are few, God states in the Holy Quran, ‘How many a small party has overcome a larger party by God’s will.’” [2:249]
He emphasized, “The believer is not afraid of the large number of enemies and does not fear for the because we enjoy have the blessing of wilayah and we must appreciate the blessing of which Imam al-Mahdi is at the end of and we are under his shadow. Today, because we have no access to him, on his orders, we must refer to the scholars of religion to prevent us from going astray. This is where the legitimacy of the Wilayat al-Faqih becomes clear.”
Ayatollah Alavi-Gorgani stated that simultaneously resorting to wilayah and the Holy Quran would prevent human mistakes, noting, “Some people held firm to the Quran but they abandoned the honourable imams and the successors of the Prophet Muhammad while nothing else is commanded in religion at the same level as wilayah.”
The prominent teacher in the Islamic Seminary of Qom stated, “Through Wilayat al-Faqih, we can benefit from the blessings of the Ahlul-Bayt and bring us closer to divine teachings. Therefore, Imam Khomeyni always reminded is to be careful. Wherever we are victorious and successful, we must attribute it God and in the case of the liberation of Khorramshahr, he also said, ‘Khorramshahr was freed by God.’”
In another part of his remarks, His Eminence reminded us, “Persevering on the path of God is one of the vital issues of any Islamic system and therefore, you must be careful to maintain your unity, and do not differ with one another. We have in a narration wherein God addressed the Prophet Moses, saying, ‘I will not allow the enemies to over dominate you provided that you do not have any disputes and animosity among yourselves.’”
As reported by Rasa News Agency, in the final part of his remarks, Ayatollah Alavi-Gorgani referred to the commands of the officials of the Islamic establishment, saying, “If our officials are separated from the Wilayat al-Faqih, we cannot expect progress and victory. For this reason, our main command is that by protecting the spirit of unity, all the officials of the establishment must are always consider themselves as under the shadow of Wilayat al-Faqih.”
