Ayatollah Nouri-Hamadani:
Rasa – Ayatollah Nouri-Hamadani condemned the revocation of the Bahraini citizenship of Ayatollah Isa Qasim by the Al Khalifah regime and stressed international organizations must prevent human rights violations in Bahrain.
RNA – Speaking during a meeting with a group of seminary students in Qom, Grand Ayatollah Hoseyn Nouri-Hamadani called for greater vigilance among the Islamic Seminary and seminary students in regard to the major issues facing the Islamic world.
Referring to a narration from Imam Ali, the revered source of emulation added, “Based on the teachings of the Ahlul-Bayt, we must fight against the oppressors and support the oppressed. In regard to this issue, geographical boundaries are not a criterion and wherever oppression exists, we must fight against it and help the oppressed.”
Referring to the revocation of the citizenship of Ayatollah Isa Qasim, the spiritual leader of Bahrain’s Shi’ah majority, by Bahrain’s Al Khalifah regime, Ayatollah Nouri-Hamadani said, “By condemning this action by the Bahraini government, we call on Muslims to also condemn this cruel action and the Bahraini youth and people must also continue their struggle.”
His Eminence stated that Islam has opened the path of martyrdom, struggle and jihad for us, if we are to remain silent in the face of the oppression of the oppressors, we will fall into the same oppression.
Ayatollah Nouri-Hamadani said, “Today, the Al Khalifah dictatorship is the tool in the hands of a handful of mercenaries and aggressors, including the United States, Israel and Saudi Arabia and it has no will of its own and has officially placed the country upon a British base. It is imperative for international organizations to get out of this situation and to prevent human rights violations in Bahrain and Yemen.”
On January 31st, Bahrain’s al-Wefaq National Islamic Society announced that Ayatollah Qasim has been transferred to hospital to undergo a hernia surgery, ten days after he was said to be in critical condition under house arrest.
The cleric has been living under virtual siege since Manama revoked his citizenship in June 2016, prompting protests and sit-ins in his home-town of Diraz.
Thousands of anti-regime protesters have held demonstrations in Bahrain on an almost daily basis ever since a popular uprising began in the country in mid-February 2011.
They are demanding that the Al Khalifah regime relinquish power and allow a just system representing all Bahrainis to be established.
