Ayatollah Mesbah-Yazdi:
Rasa – The head of the Imam Khomeyni Educational Research Institute argued that unity must be built on truth and emphasized that Muslims and the Islamic ummah must unilaterally prevent the influence of the enemies.
Ayatollah Mesbah-Yazdi
RNA – In a meeting with a group of clerics and commanders of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and armed forces, Ayatollah Mohammad-Taqi Mesbah-Yazdi said that there are many differences among the creatures of the world, noting, “The difference between men and women, the difference between languages, the colours of skin and other matters are among the differences that have been the requirements of creation and have led to the advancement and development of humanity.”

The head of the Imam Khomeyni Educational Research Institute emphasized that divine wisdom requires that there be such differences and added, “There are also many differences among the aptitudes among humankind that have led to the emergence of different occupations and thereby, the needs of humanity are being provided.”

He argued that some differences, like differences in religion, are contrary to nature, wisdom and compulsion and said, “These kind of differences aren’t desirable because everyone has to go towards the truth and solve minor differences.”

Pointing out that Muslims must be united in order to resolve their disputes, Ayatollah Mesbah-Yazdi said, “Sometimes it can be seen that some people speak of exoneration and cursing and others are opposed to this issue. In order to resolve these kinds of problems, the issue of unity must be fully explained to Muslims.”

He referred to the verse of the Holy Quran, “Hold fast, all together, to the rope of God, and do not be divided [into sects]” [3:103] and said, “Unity alone is not authentic but rather that unity is meant to be formed on the axis of truth because if unity meant the citizenship of a minority over a majority, the divine prophets would have abandoned this truth. On this basis, we must recognize the truth and act in accordance to its criteria in a complete manner.”

He added, “In cases where there is controversy over details, we need to find common ground and solve the disputes by inviting them to contemplation and peaceful negotiations and not allow minor issues to become so enlarged that the authenticity and the common points are forgotten. This unity is Islam-friendly unity.”

Ayatollah Mesbah-Yazdi emphasized, “Why must the two countries of Yemen and Saudi Arabia which speak the same language, who are somehow considered to be brothers and have many commonalities not be united with each other. An Arab author wrote in a newspaper: ‘Donald Trump is not crazy but rather we are crazy to buy $460 billion worth of weapons to kill our brothers.’ Certainly, this is an example of madness that the Saudis are killing hundreds of Yemenis every day so that they can sit on their throne for a few days.”

The head of the Imam Khomeyni Institute for Educational Research described the way to create unity as follows, saying, “First, we must invite them to think so that the seekers of truth can exchange ideas and find the path of happiness. If for some reason they are not convinced and don’t accept the truth, we propose that at least, they don’t engage in animosity with each other and by creating peaceful relations, we close the path for the enemies to penetrate.”

In conclusion, Ayatollah Mesbah-Yazdi reminded us, “We must strengthen our thoughts and beliefs and establish the foundations of belief among the youth of society so that they don’t face problems when they confront doubts on the internet and other spaces.”
