RNA – According to Rasa News Agency, Shaykh Ibrahim Zakzaky, the leader of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria, was allowed to speak to the journalists for the first time after two years.
He has been detained along with his wife since 2015, when the Nigerian army attacked the husayniyah of the city of Zaria.
Local sources say that nearly 1,000 people, including the son of Shaykh Zakzaky were killed in the attack.
Shaykh Zakzaky’s first interview with the media was following a series of demonstrations in various Nigerian cities in support of the leader of the Islamic Movement in the past few days who raised concerns about his health.
Shaykh Zakzaky thanked “the people of Nigeria for their support” during the interview.
Shaykh Zakzaky stated, “Previously, only the security doctors used to check me, but now I was allowed to be examined by my own doctor, who had examined me before.”
He added, “Thanks to the prayers of the people, my health condition is improving.”
