Fallah al-Fayyadh:
Rasa – The head of Iraq’s Popular Mobilization Forces noted that the Iraqi people and government must use the experience of the Popular Mobilization Forces in the future.
RNA – Speaking during a conference called “The Mobilization of Physicians” in the Iraqi capital of Baghdad, Fallah al-Fayyadh, the head of Iraq’s Popular Mobilization Forces, said, “The Popular Mobilization Forces was established after the Ayatollah al-Sistani’s ‘obligatory jihad’ fatwa in order to fight against the Daesh Takfiri terrorist movement and was able to defeat the enemies’ plots to create sedition and was able to restore Iraq to its original position.”
In June 2014, Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Ali al-Sistani called on all Iraqi citizens to defend “the country, its people, the honour of its citizens, and its sacred sites against the threats posed by the Daesh Takfiri terrorist group.”
He added, “The Iraqi government and nation must use the Popular Mobilization Forces in the future because the key to the development and progress of this country is to have a spirit of jihad, cooperation and solidarity.”
al-Fayyadh referred to the role of physicians in the Popular Mobilization Forces and noted, “By joining the Popular Mobilization Forces, physicians were present on the battlefield and treated the wounded warriors and, in fact, played a significant role in the Iraqi people’s victory over terrorism.”
Also speaking at this conference, Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, the vice-president of the Popular Mobilization Forces, said, “The Popular Mobilization Forces have treated more than 60,000 injured warriors and 300,000 injured civilians during the war.”
He added that the physicians treated many of the wounded and saved the lives of many combatants and people and if they were not present, the Popular Mobilization Forces would not have been able to manage and achieve victory in the war.
Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis said the transfer of the injured to hospitals in different governorates during the war, including Baghdad, was very difficult, so the Popular Mobilization Forces set up thirty field hospitals in different locations.
The Iraqi Popular Mobilization Forces is an Iraqi volunteer paramilitary force which was established in 2015 to confront the Daesh attacks on Iraqi cities.
In response to the invitation of the Iraqi government and Ayatollah al-Sistani in Najaf, this organization was established in the form of a military force alongside the national army. In the Popular Mobilization Forces, there are forces from all Iraqi tribes and ethnicities.
