RNA – According to Rasa News Agency, Ayatollah Bashir al-Najafi, a source of emulation based in the holy Iraqi city of Najaf, in a statement responded to the decision of US President Donald Trump to recognize Jerusalem al-Quds as the capital of the Zionist regime.
“This decision by the United States is another effort by the world’s mercenaries to destroy the aspirations of the Palestinians,” the statement reads.
He emphasized the necessity of maintaining Islamic unity, adding, “If the Islamic ummah were to fulfill its duties and responsibilities, we wouldn’t have seen such events.”
Ayatollah Najafi pointed out that the Islamic ummah must deal with the Quran and the message of the Prophet Muhammad who showed us the right path and goodness.
Jerusalem al-Quds remains at the core of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, with Palestinians hoping that the eastern part of the city would eventually serve as the capital of a future independent Palestinian state.
The entire city went under Israel’s control after the regime annexed East Jerusalem al-Quds in 1967 during the Arab War.
