RNA – According to Rasa News Agency, Ayatollah Fadhil al-Maliki, an Iraqi scholar based in the holy city of Qom, issued a statement in which he responded to the decision of the United States to recognize Jerusalem as the new capital of the Zionist regime.

“This act by the United States does not have any legal, human or religious authenticity, and the city of Jerusalem al-Quds is a sacred city for all divine religions and recognizing it as the capital of the world’s largest terrorist country means an open enmity with all religions,” the statement reads.

“How can the United States choose a sacred and religious city as the political capital of an illegal regime that has dominated the whole region through bullying and occupation?” Ayatollah al-Maliki added.

His Eminence reiterated that the United States has violated human rights and values, disrupted the progress of peace and insulted the dignity of the followers of various religions, including Muslims, Christians, Arabs, and in particular the Palestinians.

He stressed that this would lead the world into a catastrophic war which the people of the world will be the ultimate losers of.

The Iraqi scholar added, “We are protectors of international and human peace and security throughout the world.”

“We advise the American government to think about the bad consequences of this dangerous action and to reconsider it before it destroys the whole world,” he said.

Ayatollah al-Maliki also invited the Arab and Islamic countries to “support Palestine and the Palestinian cause and stand in a single line to defend the people of Palestine and cancel the United States’ decision on Jerusalem al-Quds.”
