RNA – According to Rasa News Agency, Shaykh Maher Hammoud, the chairman of the International Union of Resistance Scholars in an interview with the international al-Kawthar TV channel noted, “The only way of confronting the Zionist regime is through seeking help from Islamic and Quranic concepts.”

During the televised interview, the Lebanese Sunni cleric pointed to history of establishment of the International Union of Resistance Scholars and its goals, said, “The International Union of Resistance Scholars was established in 2014 to promote resistance but my background in this regard is when Israel occupied Lebanon in 1982.”

Shaykh Hammoud added, “The Islamic ummah is now faced with two mail obstacles, the first of which is disappointment and frustration against the Zionist regime, a regime which was imposed on the region, and the second obstacle is also fanatical and ignorant religious prejudice. These two obstacles are like a cancer that eat out and destroy the body of the Islamic ummah.”

At the end of the televised interview, the head of the International Union of Scholars of Resistance said, “A large majority of the scholars in the Islamic ummah have been involved with these two obstacles. Disappointment creates a tendency towards the United States and makes them enter the agenda of the US’ and the Zionist regime, be it indirectly, and religious prejudice creates tendency towards terrorist groups like Daesh.”

On December 6, US President Donald Trump sparked international outrage by declaring that Washington was recognizing Jerusalem al-Quds as the “capital” of Israel and that he had instructed his administration to begin the process of moving the American embassy from Tel Aviv to the ancient city.

The announcement prompted harsh international warnings that it would bring more chaos to the Middle East region. Several protests have been held in many countries over the past days against the US and Israel.
