RNA – Ayatollah Sayyid Kadhim al-Haeri, one of Iraq’s sources of emulation who resides in the holy city of Qom, issued a statement in response to the decision by the United States to recognize Jerusalem al-Quds as the capital of the Zionist regime.
"While Muslims were celebrating the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad, the president of the United States [Donald Trump] recognizes the city of Jerusalem al-Quds – which is the first qiblah of all Muslims – as the capital of the Zionist regime, and seeks the transfer of its embassy from Tel Aviv to this holy city,” the statement reads.
"This decision, made by President Trump, is an insult to the Islamic ummah and their holy sanctities, and by doing so they have in fact approved of the criminal acts of the Zionist regime for the last century, so we, like other divine religions, strongly condemn this decision of the United States," the Iraqi source of emulation reiterates.
Ayatollah Haeri pointed out, “The United States and its authorities and government have failed in gaining the trust of the people of the region and it is obvious to everyone that this country cannot be a true friend and only seeks its own interests and that of the Zionist regime.”
