RNA – In a statement issued on November 7th, Ayatollah Abdul-Amir Qabalan, the chairman of the Supreme Shi'ah Parliament of Lebanon, strongly condemned the declaration of al-Quds (Jerusalem) as the capital of the Zionist regime by the president of the United States, Donald Trump, and added, “Despite the intense pain, we are not surprised by this decision in any manner because Trump cannot Judaize al-Quds and erase its history.”

The revered Lebanese Shi’ah cleric says, “The legitimate option of resistance has the ability to support al-Quds, to prevent the Judaization of the city and the changing of its identity by the Zionist enemies, but our fear is from some of the Arabs and Muslims who participate in the game of the Americanization of the region based on an open coalition with Tel Aviv. They are pursuing a conspiracy to sell al-Quds and launch wars aimed at destroying the countries of the Arab and Islamic worlds.”

“We condemn this new American terrorism and emphasize that resistance and the Islamic Resistance Axis are our main options and we urge the various factions of the Islamic ummah and the forces of the Islamic Resistance to resolutely oppose this American option through various means and methods in order to save al-Quds and Palestine,” he added.

Ayatollah Qabalan pointed out, “Muslims and Christians consider al-Quds as a divine trust and they have a duty to save the land from the Zionists who seek to Judaize and change the identity and affiliation of this holy city.”

The chairman of the Supreme Shi'ah Parliament of Lebanon added, “The American decision to declare al-Quds as the capital of the Zionist regime has been a factor in provoking the feelings of Muslims and Christians and the determination of the United States in support of this regime is based on terrorism and the occupation of the land and the displacement of its inhabitants.”

His Eminence said that al-Quds has an Arab identity and affiliation with faith and added, “al-Quds is the capital of the three divine religions and no regime can undermine its identity and affiliation. The defense of al-Quds is a legal, religious, national and human obligatory and is the duty of all Muslims, Arabs and followers of the divine religions.”

Ayatollah Qabalan stressed, “Friday must be a day of anger against this cruel decision by the Americans and all Arabs, Muslims and followers of the divine religions must demonstrate their adherence to the resistance as the only way to liberate the land and save the sanctities of this land.”

His Eminence also called on the leaders of the Arab and Islamic countries to make decisive decisions to defeat this move by the United States and to cut off their relationship with the government of the United States until their retreat from this decision is certain.

In conclusion, the Ayatollah Qabalan called on Friday prayer leaders, church leaders and the imams of mosques to emphasize the dangerous consequences of this decision in their sermons, to emphasize the status of al-Quds in religious thought and to explain the necessity of defending al-Quds and the Palestinian people and to keep the memory of al-Quds alive in the national conscience.

In a speech delivered from the White House on November 7th, Trump reversed decades of American policy to recognize Jerusalem (al-Quds) as the “capital” of Israel, upsetting the Muslim world and Western allies alike.

Trump also announced that he has instruct his government to provide arrangements to transfer the American embassy from Tel Aviv to al-Quds.
