RNA – Speaking in a televised interview on the resignation of Lebanese Prime Minister Sa’ad al-Hariri, Hujjat al-Islam Sadiq al-Nabulsi said that before al-Hariri’s abrupt November 4th resignation, Saudi Arabia had previously agreed to cooperate with the Future Movement, Hezbollah, as well as with President Michel Aoun and al-Hariri and had little difficulty with Hezbollah’s choice for the presidency, Sulayman Franjiyeh, a member of parliament and the president of the Maradah Movement.
The Lebanese Shi’ah cleric added, “The process was quite rational and desirable and there was no protest heard from al-Hariri about the visit of some ministers to Syria and the appointment of [Sa’ad Zakhiya] as the new ambassador to this country He also did not object to the meeting between the Lebanese Foreign Minister [Jibran Basil] and the Syrian Foreign Minister [Walid Mu’allim].”
Hujjat al-Islam al-Nabulsi emphasized that the situation did not become a crisis and it seems that al-Hariri achieved that which he sought to achieve during his mandate as prime minister.
The professor of political science at the University of Beirut stressed, “With its new plot, Saudi Arabia is currently trying to prevent Hezbollah from making achievements and victories in Lebanon and they want to open up new theatres for war with the Zionist regime.”
Hujjat al-Islam al-Nabulsi said, “There has been a lot of correspondence between Saudi Arabia and the Zionist regime regarding future aggression against Lebanon and the Saudis want to force Hezbollah to withdraw from Syria, Yemen and Iraq, while they themselves are present in these countries.”
The Chief of Staff of the Israeli military, Lieutenant General Gadi Eizenkot, recently stated that Tel Aviv is ready to share intelligence with Saudi Arabia in their joint efforts to confront Iran.
al-Hariri announced his resignation in a televised statement on November 4th, citing many reasons, including the security situation in Lebanon, for his sudden decision. He also said that he sensed a plot being hatched against his life.
The Lebanese Prime Minister accused Iran and Hezbollah of meddling in the affairs of Arab countries, an allegation the two have repeatedly denied.
