RNA – Speaking at the opening ceremony of the Martyrs Exhibition at the Imam al-Ridha Complex in the southern Lebanese village of al-Salam, Hujjat al-Islam Ali al-Da’moush, the vice-president of the Executive Council of Hezbollah said, “The purpose of the close coordination between Saudi Arabia and the Zionist regime is to harm the Islamic Resistance [Hezbollah] in Lebanon.”

“Saudi Arabia’s threats and actions against Lebanon are also aimed at overthrowing the Islamic  Resistance which have the ability to expel the tools of Saudi Arabia – Daesh and the al-Nusrah Front from Lebanon,” he said.

The Lebanese Shi’ah cleric added that Syria has been targeted by Saudi Arabia for supporting the Islamic Resistance and Iran has faced the hostility of the House of Saud for the same reason and noted, “By sending terrorists to the region, Saudi Arabia was seeking to destroy the Islamic Resistance and is working hard to expand religious and tribal sedition and subject the security situation in Lebanon to its influence.”

Hujjat al-Islam al-Da’moush stressed that Saudi Arabia’s threats against the Islamic Resistance are not new and are due to the fact that they refuse to abandon the central issues of the Islamic ummah, including the Palestinian issue, rejecting the American plots to partition the Middle East, establish their hegemony over the region and the refusal to surrender to their conditions and guardianship.

“While these regimes tend to forget Palestine and seek to normalize relations with the enemies, such plots are now becoming apparent in the public sphere when previously, they were done in secret and under the table,” he said.

He argued that Saudi Arabia seeks to tarnish the image of the Islamic Resistance and deprive them of their weapons and said, “All of Saudi Arabia’s efforts against Lebanon are doomed to fail because Lebanon will not be a platform to undermine the Islamic Resistance and will always remain a resistant, independent and free country. The country will not succumb to pressure and does not allow for sedition.”

The senior member of the Hezbollah noted, “Saudi Arabia’s creation of sedition in Lebanon and efforts to destroy the country have become clear to all of the Lebanese people. The Saudis do not know that Lebanon is the graveyard of invaders, aggressors and conspirators.”

Following a visit to Saudi Arabia, Lebanese prime minister Sa’ad al-Hariri announced his resignation in a televised statement on November 4th, citing many reasons, including the security situation in Lebanon, for his sudden decision. He also said that he sensed a plot being hatched against his life.

al-Hariri also accused Iran and Lebanese Hezbollah resistance movement of meddling in Arab countries’ affairs – an allegation the two have repeatedly denied.

Last Saturday, Reuters quoted al-Hariri sources as saying that Saudi Arabia “has concluded that the prime minister had to go because he was unwilling to confront Hezbollah.” Riyadh is uneasy with Hezbollah’s considerable military and political influence in Lebanon, which has significantly contributed to the country’s security.
