RNA – Speaking at a memorial ceremony in the husayniyah of the southern Lebanese village of Dayr Qanoun al-Nahr, Hujjat al-Islam Sayyid Hashim Safiuddin, the chairman of the Executive Council of the Lebanese Islamic Resistance group Hezbollah, strongly condemned Saudi Arabia’s interference in Lebanon.
Lebanese Prime Minister Sa’ad al-Hariri announced his resignation on November 4th following a visit to Saudi Arabia, citing several reasons, including the security situation in Lebanon, for his sudden decision. He also said that he realized a plot being hatched against his life.
He also accused Iran and the Lebanese resistance movement, Hezbollah, of meddling in the Arab countries’ affairs. An allegation the two have rejected.
Lebanese government officials and senior sources close to al-Hariri believe that Riyadh forced him to step down and has further placed him under effective house arrest since he touched down in Saudi Arabia on November 3.
Hujjat al-Islam Safiuddin said, “Saudi Arabia seeks to change the political leaders of Lebanon and replace them with others through media controversy and the creation of sedition and anyone who reflects on this issue will realize this.”
Referring to Saudi efforts to impose its will on the countries of the Middle East and change Lebanon’s perspective on its regional allies, the Lebanese Shi’ah scholar said, “By summoning Sa’ad al-Hariri, the Saudis insulted the official, independent and functional Lebanese government.”
He added that Saudi Arabia, while seeking to place its opinions on Lebanon through domestic ignorance, has no right to demolish the walls and destroy all the structures within the country.
The senior member of Hezbollah stated, “The Saudis are seeking to implement the same scenario against Lebanon that it did in Qatar and destroy Lebanon like Syria, Iraq and Yemen. They are pursuing their own sinister ideas but have been unable to do so and for this reason, they are resorting to the hardest methods until they are defeated and fail again.”
Saudi Arabia has been accused of trying to engineer a change of power in the neighbouring Persian Gulf state of Qatar by imposing an economic embargo along with a group of fellow Gulf Cooperation Council countries. The alliance has accused Qatar of allying with Iran in the support of terrorism.
Hujjat al-Islam Safiuddin stated, “From the first day, the logic of Hezbollah and the Islamic Resistance Axis was the logic of true faith, attention to reason, law, experience and abilities to defeat the enemies and this is always the position of the Islamic Resistance and this will remain with the permission of God.”
In conclusion, His Eminence stressed, “Saudi Arabia has failed and be defeated today, they will also fail in the future and will more humiliated day by day.”
