RNA – In a statement, Shaykh Maher Abdul-Razzaq, the head of Lebanon’s Reform and Election Movement, called on all political, religious and nationalist movements in Lebanon to maintain unity in the face of the new conspiracy against Lebanon and to “understand the seriousness of the war on Lebanon.”

The Lebanese Sunni cleric described the resignation of Sa’ad al-Hariri as prime minister as a completely foreign project and added that the move was in line with the American conspiracies in the region and was ordered by Saudi Arabia.

He noted that al-Hariri’s resignation was not in his favour, nor was it in the interest of Lebanon, but rather it harms Lebanon’s national unity and serves the enemies and the seditious plots of the foreigners.

Shaykh Abdul-Razzaq requested the political and religious movements in the country to maintain and strengthen Islamic national unity and added, “Through solidarity, unity and dialogue, we can get through this internal crisis and maintain internal unity and protect the country and its institutions.”

His Eminence said, “Any the seditious statement and incitement of the people towards unrest only serves the American-Zionist project in Lebanon. al-Hariri should inform the Lebanese people about the truth of his resignation because the reason for his resignation is not convincing for the Lebanese people.”

He said that al-Hariri’s party, the Future Movement, must prefer national interests to foreign and party interests and added, “Since the plans and plots of some countries failed to divide the region, they seek revenge on the Lebanese people.”

In conclusion, Shaykh Abdul-Razzaq called on all of the Lebanese people to stand united against the plots of the foreigners and neutralize the plots of the enemies and added, “We warn everyone that some in Lebanon are the tools of the American project and we are all on the front to preserve Lebanon, its national unity and security.”

On Saturday, Sa’ad al-Hariri announced his resignation as Lebanon’s prime minister in a televised address from Saudi Arabia.

He said he feared for his life, and accused Iran and the Hezbollah resistance movement of interfering in the affairs of Arab countries.

Iran and Hezbollah both reject the accusations. The Lebanese army also said on Sunday that no assassination plot had been uncovered in Lebanon.

al-Hariri’s resignation is also largely seen as an attempt by Saudi Arabia to undermine Hezbollah.
